for adults and children:

Regular cleanings and oral exams – The foundation for excellent oral health, regular cleanings and oral exams ensure your teeth, gums, mouth and throat remain free of gum disease and other potential problems. In addition, we can fill cavities, repair minor breaks and chips to teeth, and replace crowns.

Crowns – Whether you need a new crown or a broken crown replaced, we can help you. The procedure consists of taking an impression, affixing a temporary crown while we wait for the lab to develop your custom crown (or crowns), and then placing the crown in your mouth. Your crown is custom made and will match your existing tooth color.

Dentures – If you lost your natural teeth due to injury, disease or other reasons, Dedham Family Dental can develop complete dentures to replace your missing smile. At your initial consultation, we’ll take measurements of your jaw as well as impressions. The lab then custom develops your dentures, which are designed to fit comfortably in your mouth. Once your dentures are in place, you’ll be able to eat and speak again without trouble.

Children’s dentistry – The ADA recommends that children begin seeing a dentist as soon as their first teeth come in. We’ll show you how to care for your infant and toddler’s teeth as well as instructing your older children how to brush and floss. In addition to providing regular cleanings and checking for cavities, Dedham Family Dental provides fluoride treatments and sealants, a procedure where we apply a plastic material on the chewing areas of the back teeth. This material provides a physical barrier so that cavity-causing bacteria and plaque cannot invade the teeth.

Oral cancer screenings – According to the American Dental Association (ADA), oral cancer strikes over 34,000 Americans annually, and over 25% will die of the disease, which claims more lives than melanoma or cervical cancer. And, according to the ADA, recent studies have shown a nearly five-fold increase in the incidence of oral cancer in individuals under age 40, many with no known risk factors.

At Dedham Family Dental, we take oral cancer seriously and provide screenings using the ViziLite Plus system. A fast, painless exam, ViziLite Plus is performed immediately following your regular visual examination. The exam consists of three steps:

• First, you’ll be instructed to rinse with a cleansing solution.
• Next, the overhead lighting will be dimmed.
• Then, one of our dental associates will examine your mouth using a specially designed light technology to look for any cancerous lesions.
